G5, also known as the G5 group or the G5 super elite in English, is the name of five elite schools reported by British media, namely Cambridge University, Oxford University, Imperial College London, University College London and London School of Economics and Political Science. As the top research universities in the UK, they represent the highest level of scientific research strength, quality of teachers and students and economic strength in the UK. Founded in 1994, Russell University Group consists of the top 24 world-class research universities in the UK, and is a famous university alliance with the largest number of Nobel Prize winners in the world. It is named after the presidents of 24 colleges and universities in the group hold research funding meetings at Russell Hotel next to Russell Square in London, England every spring. Each year, members of the group receive more than 65% of research funds and sponsorship funds from universities in the UK.
